This Tabriz antique rug measures 282 x 373 cm and reflects the poised floral language for which the type is known. A scalloped centre medallion rests within a cream ground, framed by faded red arabesques, palmettes and an enclosing border of rounded motifs. The surface shows a measured patina, with softened detail and visible wear that temper the pattern without diminishing its clarity. Circa 1900 - 1920, it has the considered, weathered character of a wool piece shaped by age, where neutral tones and restrained red create a quietly layered presence.
