The wool pile shows low distress, with softened colour, gentle surface wear, and an overall timeworn patina that preserves the clarity of the drawing. Circa 1880 - 1895, it reads as restrained yet expressive, with an easy balance between pattern and open ground. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
