This Oushak, 396 x 483 cm, is woven in wool and softened by time into a pale, neutral colourway. Large arabesque medallions and scrolling palmettes sit beneath a broad guard border of repeating cartouches, their outlines blurred by high distress and even abrash. The field reads as cream, ivory and soft beige with faint rose-beige accents; wear has reduced pattern to a luminous patina that highlights texture over crisp detail. As an antique rug it carries visible wear yet retains an assured, tactile craft quality. Circa 1900 - 1920 The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
