This Mallayer wool runner presents an elongated mihrab and rows of floral palmettes set within multiple foliate borders. The neutral, brown, cream and white hues have settled to a restrained palette with soft abrash and worn passages that reveal the rug’s lived surface. Medium distress is apparent in thinned pile and softened border motifs; the overall effect is textual and quietly historic. This antique rug reads as both delicate and durable, a study in ageing and craft. Circa 1890 - 1905. Dimensions: 193 x 414 cm. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
