A considered European wool rug, its cream ground set with a central round medallion and delicate all-over floral arabesques. Neutral tones and restrained red accents are softened by a low level of wear, producing a mellow, tactile surface and subtle colour variation across the ground. The narrow inner reserve and scrolling palmette border feel hand-composed, the overall effect measured and familiar. This antique rug retains intact edges and a soft patina that amplifies the fibre’s natural character. Measurements are 173 x 183 cm. Circa 1900 - 1925. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
