This European wool rug exhibits a close allover palmette and foliate repeat set against a warm neutral ground, punctuated by muted blue-grey and rust tones. A narrow roundel border contains the field with discreet formality. Wear is low and evenly softened, the surface developing a restrained, timeworn patina that emphasises the tactile wool fibre and subtle abrash across the span. The composition remains legible and remarkably calm, suited to considered interiors. Circa 1885 - 1915. Measurements: 325 x 455 cm.
