This Mallayer runner measures 109 x 589 cm, its pale ground permeated with worn terracotta, ivory and soft blue. A procession of floral medallions runs the central field, bounded by multiple guard borders of rosettes and geometric palmettes. The wool fibre sits low with a matt lustre and areas of even abrash and light wear that give a considered, time-softened patina. The composition reads both structured and gentle; the faded palette and muted colouration evoke an archival quality. An antique rug with quiet presence and tactile depth, Circa 1900 - 1915
