A Mallayer in subdued neutral tones, woven in wool with an all-over lattice of floral roundels and palmettes enlivened by a cream guard border. The field shows even abrash and medium distress that lend a softened surface and complex patina to the colour. The composition is quietly geometric yet floral, the motifs relaxed by age and handling; the wool retains a tactile, worn pile that reads as heritage. This antique rug offers a measured serenity and textured depth typical of late 19th-century Mallayer weaving. Circa 1900 - 1920. Size: 353 x 574 cm.
