Deep red wool and a pale neutral guard border compose this Oushak runner, 117 x 340 cm. A vertical chain of stylised palmettes and small boteh motifs punctuates the field, while the border arranges alternating cartouches enlivened by lavender and steel-blue notes. The fibre exhibits low wear and a soft abrash, the pile mellow and tactile with subtle surface patina. The overall effect is rooted in measured Oushak proportion and an understated artisanal hand, the character of an antique rug that has aged with restraint. Circa 1910 - 1925 The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
