A restrained Tabriz in wool, 409 x 531 cm, the palette leans to neutral brown, cream and white, with a soft, aged presence. A central medallion inhabits stacked mihrab-shaped fields, the intricate, small-scale floral ground gently abrased by time. The broad floral arabesque border reads as a softened frame, its motifs mellowed and reduced by wear. The rug exhibits medium distress with even fading and visible abrash, softened pile and slight fraying to the edges. This antique rug retains a tactile sense of construction and an understated, heritage-rich atmosphere. Circa 1920 - 1935.
