The Tabriz runner is a study in subtle colour and disciplined form, woven in wool and presented in neutral and brown tones across 79 x 645 cm. Repeating medallions, palmettes and floral vine work run the length of the piece; the narrow guard borders feature rosette roundels that remain legible despite medium wear. Surface abrash and softened pile give the piece a lived-in texture that emphasizes its age and craft. Circa 1940 - 1960, this antique rug reads as an elegant, time-softened object with a refined, tactile presence and considered decorative language.
