A Ravar Kerman in wool, this pictorial antique rug is 152 x 249 cm and presents an intricate tree-of-life composition on a warm cream ground. Countless birds, pomegranates and flowering branches form the central tableau, framed by a narrow floral guard and an outer band of animal vignettes and roundel portraits. Gold and rose accents lift the neutral palette while low distress keeps motifs sharply defined and the pile suppler to the touch. Circa 1900 - 1920, the work shows restrained ageing and considered craftsmanship, a tactile testament to early 20th-century weaving vocabulary.
