A large Tabriz in wool, this antique rug measures 396 x 564 cm. A pale, softened palette of neutral, blue, cream and white frames a central medallion and stepped spandrels, the field articulated with scrolling vine motifs and layered floral borders. Wear is even and pulled into a tactile surface; abrash in the ground gives the pattern a painterly cadence. The medium distress reveals a lived history while maintaining clarity of drawing and rhythm. The piece feels both delicate and resolute, its faded colours and well-worn surface retaining a quiet, craft-focused presence. Circa 1920 - 1935
