A Tabriz woven in wool, this antique rug presents a muted cream and neutral colourway with a softly defined central medallion. Floral arabesques, scrolling vines and palmette cartouches form a layered composition, while medium distress and even abrash have mellowed outlines into a tactile, patinated surface. The borders retain their repeating motifs though their edges are gently softened by time, lending an assured sense of age and materiality. Dimensionally the piece measures 335 x 442 cm and reads as a considered, heritage-rich textile. Circa 1910 - 1930. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
