A Hereke wool rug with a pale cream field and a subtle central medallion, articulated by scrolling floral arabesques and scalloped corner spandrels. The layered borders carry small palmettes and restrained ornament, the whole reading as a studied, tonal composition. Medium distress has softened the pile and introduced even fading and gentle abrash, giving the piece a calming, tactile presence. This antique rug retains poised proportions and an aged sensibility that emphasises craft over decoration. Circa 1890 - 1910. Measurements: 340 x 462 cm. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
