A measured Tabriz in wool, this antique rug measures 361 x 465 cm. The piece presents a central medallion set within an arabesque field of floral vines and palmettes, surrounded by layered guard borders. Muted red, cream and warm neutrals mingle across the ground, mellowed by medium wear and visible abrash that lend an heirloom presence to the fibre. The wool pile retains a subtle low sheen that accentuates the drawn motifs while maintaining a softened surface. Circa 1885 - 1900. This is a thoughtfully aged example of classic Tabriz composition and tactility.
