This Tabriz displays a refined allover of floral palmettes and scrolling vine work, rendered in an understated neutral palette that reads as cream, soft blue, faded green and russet. Heavy, even abrasion has reduced the pile in places, producing pale bands, pronounced abrash and a vellum-like surface. The multiple borders remain discernible, framing the quietly complex field. Measures 325 x 500 cm. Circa 1910 - 1930. As an antique rug the piece conveys the wear of long use while retaining delicate drawing and a layered, tactile presence that rewards close inspection.
