Tehran panelled design in wool, the field organised as a grid of floral and arboreal panels in soft red, cream, blue and muted gold. At 259 x 348 cm the piece centres on a columnar medallion framed by palmettes, scrolling vines and stylised trees, each panel detailed with delicate floral sprays. Low distress keeps the pile even while gentle abrash and mellowed tones give the surface a fabric-like patina. This antique rug carries the measured restraint of early 20th century Tehran workshops, an object of considered craft and layered colour. Circa 1900 - 1930.
