An early 20th-century Sarouk in wool, this antique rug measures 305 x 439 cm. The deep purple ground is threaded with cream and white palmettes, vases and a disciplined allover floral lattice. Low distress preserves a gentle lustre and reveals delicate abrash that warms the colour across the field; borders show modest, consistent wear. Circa 1920 - 1935. The drawing is compact and considered, motifs repeat with measured rhythm, and the piece reads as a tactile example of Sarouk weaving from the first half of the 20th century. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
