A substantial Tabriz in wool, the ivory field carries a disciplined allover trellis of scrolling vine and palmettes in soft blue, navy, red and gold. The pile retains low wear and even mellowing, the motifs holding clear definition while the outer guards show warm abrash and gentle age. Borders in russet and slate provide a steady frame to the centre; the surface is tactile and quietly refined, the sense of craft apparent in every repeat. This antique rug presents a calm, storied presence. Circa 1900 - 1915. Measurements: 396 x 442 cm.
