A large Sarouk in wool with a deep red ground, navy accents and muted neutral highlights forming a dense floral arabesque. Palmettes, rosettes and scrolling vines fill the field while paisley corner motifs and a broad floral border frame the composition. Wear is modest, the pile mellowed to reveal soft abrash and a lived, tactile surface; edges and borders remain serviceable with a worn fringe. The piece reads as an antique rug with considerable painterly depth, its hand and pattern conveying layered age. Circa 1915 - 1930. Measurements: 427 x 528 cm.
