An Oushak rendered in soft neutral and gold tones, this antique rug shows a large medallion set within a stepped field and repeated borders. The wool fibre retains a low, supple pile and a soft-aged patina; subtle abrash animates the ground while motifs remain composed and refined. Cream and ivory sit against warm gold to form a quiet, sun-faded colourway that reads restrained and deliberate. The piece measures 320 x 391 cm, its geometry and measured ornament speaking to sustained craft and time. Circa 1885 - 1915. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
