A Tabriz woven in wool that reads like a faded garden, its allover arabesque lattice of palmettes and rosettes softened to muted pinks and greens. At 386 x 640 cm the large format allows repeating motifs to breathe while the borders, gently worn, retain a quiet presence. Medium distress and even abrash create a subdued, tactile surface; pile wear has mellowed contours without erasing the composition. The overall colouration and subtle surface wear give the piece a layered, historic feeling that remains inherently crafted. Circa 1905 - 1920. This antique rug conveys considered age and refined patterning.
