This Bibikabad is a generous wool antique rug, 351 x 516 cm. The field presents a dense repeating floral lattice that conjoins a subdued lozenge medallion and pronounced angular spandrels, enclosed by wide floral guard borders. The colourway of neutral, brown and gold has softened with age; medium distress and subtle abrash reveal the rug’s textured surface and layered patina. Worn passages sit alongside intact border definition, giving a considered, heritage-rich character. Circa 1885 - 1900. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time. Subtle tonal variation keeps the drawing legible and grounded.
