A considered Tapestry in wool fibre, this pastoral panel measures 244 x 315 cm. The composition presents a wooded river scene in muted blues, cream and white, bordered by a continuous garland of roses and roundel corners. The wool retains a soft, low pile and shows only slight abrash through the blue fields; the border and edges remain intact with conservative wear. The tapestry reads as a studied landscape study, where painterly foliage and measured negative space create a composed surface. This antique rug feels tactile and quietly aged, its palette restrained and refined. Circa 1845 - 1875
