A Seneh woven in wool, this antique rug (130 x 183 cm) is a study in softened colour and fine geometry. A pale central medallion rises from a densely filled lattice of tiny motifs, the field moving between cream and neutral tones with subtle abrash. The narrow guard border retains muted russet accents that have mellowed with time. Surface wear is moderate, producing a low, tactile pile and an even patina that emphasises age and hand. The composition feels measured and quietly ornate, an object that foregrounds material and making. Circa 1890 - 1910
