This Ravar Kerman antique rug measures 287 x 384 cm and shows the restrained character of a heavily worn Persian composition. A dense field of floral scrollwork, palmettes, and bordered compartments is worked in cream, muted green, burgundy, and faded blue, with much of the drawing softened by extensive fading and age. The high distress level gives the surface a hushed, timeworn quality, allowing the pattern to read as layered and gently dissolved. Circa 1920 - 1940, it captures the decorative rhythm associated with Ravar Kerman in a quiet wool form.
