This Sarab antique rug measures 91 x 465 cm and shows the elongated format and finely ordered ornament associated with the type. Its wool field is worked in brown, cream, terracotta, and softened red, with a close lattice of geometric floral motifs that reads with steady rhythm across the length. A characterful border of angular forms and narrow guard bands frames the composition, adding movement at the edges. With low distress, gentle fading, and a timeworn surface, it holds the patina of use without losing definition. Circa 1880 - 1900, it is calm, tactile, and visually enduring.
