This Ghashgai antique rug, measuring 140 x 201 cm, brings together rust, slate blue, brown, cream, and white in a layered tribal scheme. Three stepped medallions run through the field, set against a dense ground of small geometric and floral details that lend rhythm without overcrowding the design. A slim inner border and ivory outer guards frame the composition cleanly. Circa 1900 - 1930, it retains a low-distress finish, with softened tones, light age wear, and a mellow wool surface that reads as tactile and well balanced. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
