This Kysari antique rug measures 190 x 292 cm and carries a delicately faded silk surface in ivory, blush pink and pale taupe. A central medallion sits within a softened border, with floral tracery and faint allover ornament emerging and receding across the field. High distress has mellowed the contrast, lending the rug a gentle, timeworn atmosphere and a subtly reflective finish. Circa 1855 - 1870, it feels refined yet quiet, with the poise of an antique rug whose pattern has been softened by many years of light and use.
