This Kysari antique rug, measuring 89 x 122 cm, is worked in silk and settled into a muted palette of cream, ivory, taupe, faded rose, and soft grey. A worn central field sits within a border of scrolling floral and medallion motifs, now softened by age into a more atmospheric, nearly washed composition. Heavy distress has reduced the contrast and left the design gently ghosted across the surface, with visible fringe character adding to its relaxed edge. Circa 1850 - 1870, it reads as refined, faded, and quietly tactile. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
