The composition centres on a prayer niche, enclosed by multiple borders of floral cartouches, rosettes, and scrolling vine motifs that give the design its layered rhythm. Red, cream, white, and neutral tones sit against a softened grey field, creating a restrained but expressive palette. Circa 1860 - 1880, the rug shows medium distress, with visible fading, worn areas, and softened edges that deepen its heritage character.
