This Kysari antique rug, measuring 190 x 287 cm, carries a muted field of dusty red, ivory, and brown, anchored by a dark central medallion with finely worked floral arabesques. The surrounding border is slender and measured, set with repeating cartouche forms and small rosettes that echo the interior rhythm without overwhelming it. Silk gives the surface a gentle lustre, softened by medium distress, light fading, and visible abrash that deepen its character. Circa 1885 - 1900, it reads as composed, timeworn, and quietly decorative, with a layered atmosphere shaped by age and use.
