A Chinese wool rug with a deep blue centre and a soft cream band, punctuated by restrained botanical motifs in the corners. The composition is spare and painterly, with stylised rockwork, bamboo and chrysanthemum clusters that read as subtle studies in line and colour. Medium surface wear and gentle abrash have flattened original contrasts and produced a soft handle with faint lustre. This antique rug measures 251 x 300 cm and retains honest signs of use: light soiling, faint pile loss and softened edges that lend provenance. Circa 1920 - 1940.
