An understated example of Kysari weaving in silk, this antique rug measures 152 x 206 cm. A central stepped medallion dissolves into an all-over floral arabesque, worked in cream, neutral and pale grey with subtle warm rust highlights. Medium distress and a softened pile give a linen-like patina and gentle abrash, while the border carries repeating rosettes and scrolling vines. Circa 1905 - 1920. The composition reads as heritage craft in a muted colourway, tactile and refined, its age and hand evident in the softened motifs and quiet rhythm of the design.
