A compact Chinese wool rug whose deep black ground is enlivened by a single cascading floral spray in cream, white and neutral tones. The wool fibre shows medium wear and fine abrash, with small areas of pile loss and slight fraying to the edges that lend a lived, tactile quality. The spare composition and muted palette feel quietly intentional; this antique rug reads as a small study in pattern and surface. Circa 1900 - 1915. Size: 41 x 81 cm. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
