This Italian Textile is a wool antique rug, 251 x 229 cm, composed as a scalloped floral medallion on a warm gold ground. Circa 1880 - 1900. Layered sprays of rose and apricot sit within scrolling arabesques and small putti, framed by a decorative floral guard border. The wool fibre shows a mellow, velvet-like pile with even patina and soft abrash that harmonises the colourways. Edges retain original character with minor flattening, while the overall surface preserves the textile's crafted, tactile presence and an understated, time-worn elegance. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
