Silk Ghom, 107 x 168 cm, an antique rug of silk defined by a layered octagonal medallion and narrow floral guard borders. The central panel sits in warm rust and neutral tones, scored with vertical leafy motifs in blue and green and surrounded by a pale neutral field. The silk pile presents a soft sheen and low wear; colours have mellowed slightly with age, offering subtle abrash and a tactile, velveteen surface. Borders retain clear floral repeat and the fringe is intact. The overall impression is of meticulous patterning refined by time and the luminous quality of silk. Circa 1935 - 1975
