A quietly refined Turkish wool rug, the field a softened rose-red mellowed by wear and warm brown detailing. An allover palmette and rosette lattice is framed by a broad neutral guard border, the repeating motifs softened by abrasion and visible abrash. The piece shows medium distress with softened pile and edge wear that read as a considered patina. At 358 x 444 cm the scale allows the motifs to breathe while the wool fibre retains a tactile surface. This antique rug pairs restrained colour with assured composition and evident age.
