A narrow Sarab woven in wool, 91 x 323 cm, this antique rug shows a tight repeat of small hooked palmettes in staggered rows, their red and brown tones set into a warm neutral ground. A cream secondary border and blue guards frame the centre with geometric rosette motifs and linear guard stripes. Low distress and gentle abrash preserve a soft, tactile surface and an even, mellowed patina. The restrained colourway and measured, folk-inflected drawing reflect traditional craft and long, careful use. Circa 1890 - 1910. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
