This Ravar Kerman runner is an exercise in restrained detail and tactile age. Woven in wool, the long field presents repeating palmettes and a dense floral vine in neutral, red, white and cream tones that have mellowed to a harmonious whole. Wear is low and even, with subtle abrash and gentle pile compression that reveal a soft, historic surface. The narrow borders remain well defined, lending a measured frame to the elongated composition. An antique rug with quiet presence, it measures 66 x 478 cm and carries a provincial Persian sensibility. Circa 1900 - 1915.
