A long Saraban in muted white and cream, 145 x 488 cm, the runner presents a hushed, timeworn surface. High distress has softened the repeat boteh pattern into a gentle, almost textile-like field, while narrow foliate borders remain as faint framing devices. The wool pile shows bands of abrash and areas of threadbare patina, giving the cloth a tactile, lived-in presence and a refined neutrality of colour. The result is an antique rug where wear and restraint read as intentional craft. Circa 1880 - 1900. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
