An Oushak Angora in wool, 122 x 208 cm, its soft cream ground punctuated by rust-red floral sprays and a delicate scrolling vine border. The angora wash and medium wear yield a low lustre, subtle abrash and occasional staining that sit like age. Motifs are large and painterly, their outlines softened into the ground so the design reads as tonal and airy. The tactile surface and muted colourway reflect long use and careful handling, a quietly confident example of an antique rug with an open, graphic language. Circa 1925 - 1975
