A Caucasian wool antique rug that reads like a memory in colour and stitch. The pictorial field centres on a reclining figure set within a teal-blue and taupe ground, offset by coral-rose cartouches and scattered floral motifs. A narrow floral border and an angular, glyph-like band contain the composition. The piece shows medium wear and soft abrash across the blues and reds, lending a mellow, textile-aged surface and a tactile woollen hand. Circa 1915 - 1930. Exact size 190 x 127 cm. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
