A modest Bakhtiari antique rug, 157 x 264 cm, organised around twin ivory medallions filled with flowering bouquets set into a deep blue ground. The wool fibre retains a soft handle and low wear, the field showing gentle abrash and a subtle surface sheen that emphasises the geometry of the cartouches and layered guard borders. Cream medallion centres and navy surrounds give measured colour contrast and a cultivated patina; seen closely, the floral forms resolve into painterly strokes. The overall effect is composed, tactile and quietly assertive. Circa 1900 - 1920
