This Sarab runner features a dense diamond-lattice field with a central hexagonal ivory medallion and a floral ivory main border, all in wool. The neutral ground framing a richly worked red field shows subtle colour abrash and restrained, low distress; the pile is even and the edges well kept. The design has a hand-drawn rhythm, floral motifs softened by time yet crisply articulated where the ivory fields contrast the red. Read as an antique rug with a tactile, heritage presence and considered wear that complements its pattern. Circa 1885 - 1900. Dimensions: 163 x 343 cm.
