This Ravar Kerman has the measured restraint of an antique rug, its large medallions and all-over palmette field mellowed by age. Woven in wool, the ground reads as warm brown and beige with muted red and pale blue-green highlights. A broad scrolling border of roundel cartouches contains the composition while even abrash and horizontal wear create a velveteen surface. At 447 x 701 cm the scale is both architectural and intimate; the condition shows medium wear and sympathetic repairs. Circa 1900 - 1915, the piece offers a soft, heritage-rich texture and a quietly faded colour story.
