This Bakhtiari in wool is an antique rug measuring 366 x 488 cm, a large composition of repeated rose medallions and scattered floral sprays across a deep neutral field. Cream and white highlights and cool blue accents punctuate the floral modelling, while the multi-band border of faded coral and red frames the design with measured energy. Wear is low; subtle abrash and softened high points lend a patinaed, tactile surface that preserves motif legibility. The wool fibre displays a low sheen and painterly texture that changes with light and movement. Circa 1895 - 1915.
