A long Bakhtiari runner in wool, its muted red field punctuated by three central medallions and a repeat of octagonal cartouches along the border. At 152 x 462 cm the runner reads as a procession of floral bouquets and scrolling vine motifs, the cream and brown accents tempered by age. Medium distress has softened edges and introduced even abrash across the field, giving the surface a weathered, tactile quality. The composition remains legible while the pile shows sympathetic wear, conveying both craft and time. Circa 1900 - 1920, this antique rug is a considered study in faded colour and pattern.
