A Turkish wool rug rendered in deep brown and muted red tones, its all-over floral vine and palmette motifs softened by time. The dark floral border provides contrast while even abrash and medium wear create a subdued, tactile surface and a mellow, heritage colour. The wool fibre shows surface abrasion and a softened pile that reads as quietly antique, the design held in reserve beneath patina and wear. Circa 1885 - 1905. Measurements: 249 x 323 cm. This antique rug retains a considered, tactile character. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
